Spring Break in Miami

On one very early morning not so long time ago there was a girl stepping into her carriage, which went by the name of Pitt Taxi and American Airlines, to travel to this faraway city called Miami to meet her Prince Charming again. Prince Charming had traveled across the world to see his one and only again after months of agony. He had a perfect pink rose in his hands… Enough of this fairy tale! Even if it might not be so far from the truth, or even be the exact truth.

As you might imagine Miami was great. The weather was perfect; the occasional clouds were just what we needed from time to time. The temperature was around 80s (27C) everyday. Still, I was feeling cold most of the time. The AC was too cold inside, especially in the stores and busses. The only place it was perfect was the beach, where a cool breeze is coming from the ocean. It was not too cold or hot there.

Miami Beach
There is not that many sights in Miami, so besides walking A LOT around Miami Beach, we shopped and as you might be aware you need to walk to do that too. So, our feet were killing us by the end of the day. There were days that we tried not to walk that much but I think we succeeded in that only once: on that day we went on a boat tour, and there you cannot walk :D

This was taken on our bike trip.

Downtown Miami was a surprise. One would think it would be packed with people, but that is not correct. There was no one! And all the shops closed at six, what kind of city is that? Other people were worried that there would be too many crazy springbreakers with us in Miami. I don’t know where they all were, but at least they didn’t bother us.

There was an opportunity to go kayaking, paddle boarding,
jump on a water trampoline, or simply lay on a water mat on the catamaran trip.
It was awesome!

Besides sunbathing at the beach, shopping in the Dolphin outlet mall, and walking around the downtown, we went on a catamaran trip (and saw a real DOLPHIN), biked to the Key Biscayne Island, and of course we walked around South Beach. South Beach was THE PLACE, where the people, the restaurants, and the shops were. It took few days for us to discover that. We had 7-day bus tickets, which were great to get around Miami district. The public transportation is amazing in Miami!

Our home street by night

We lived directly in Miami Beach in a small studio. It was very inexpensive even though the location was perfect. There was a reason for the prize: it was very old, but luckily a very clean apartment. It did its job, but I wouldn’t probably stay there longer than a week, because of the moisture..

Some tips for people travelling on budget: get cheap accommodation from Airbnb, check Groupon for discounts (our catamaran trip was from there and it was half-prized), and take an UBER instead of a taxi. It’s very convenient and a lot cheaper than a taxi.

As a friend of mine pointed out: Miami is like a city in South Europe but without all the dirt, smell, and history. We didn’t yet cover all the things in our bucket list, so the only solution obviously is to come back some other time ;DD

Sometimes the moment is perfect :)
